Achieving the Dream Strengthens its Senior Team with Lisa Nitze, the New Vice President for Strategic Partnerships

Silver Spring, MD (April 16, 2014) – Achieving the Dream today announced the appointment of Lisa Nitze as the national nonprofit’s Vice President for Strategic Partnerships. Lisa is joining the senior leadership team, replacing George Cushman who is assuming the Vice Presidency of Strategic Partnerships at the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

As Vice President for Strategic Partnerships, Lisa will lead Achieving the Dream’s efforts to leverage community partnerships to mobilize greater support for community colleges in the Achieving the Dream National Reform Network. She will report directly to and work closely with President & CEO William Trueheart to strategically establish and build partnerships with national community-based organizations, businesses, and corporations that are committed to investing in student success and college completion reforms that will result in more productive and economically sound communities.

Prior to joining Achieving the Dream, Lisa served as Principal and Managing Director at Mission Measurement LLC, a social impact strategy consulting firm in Washington D.C. While there she acted as the Engagement partner between Mission Measurement and Achieving the Dream working closely with George Cushman to identify opportunities for corporate investment through strategic partnerships.

Previously, Lisa was President and CEO of the Social Enterprise Alliance and Vice President of Global Resource Engagement at Ashoka. At Ashoka, Lisa led a global team of employees in developing products and services to engage corporations, foundations, and philanthropists in supporting the systems-change work of leading social entrepreneurs.

Lisa holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University, a B.A. from Harvard University, and is a graduate of the Leadership New Jersey Program. She is currently an adjunct professor at American University’s School for International Service where she teaches courses on Public Private Partnerships, Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Mission Business.
