Adaptive Learning Webinar Series

As part of the Every Learner Everywhere (ELE) initiative, ATD partners with a network of 11 higher education and digital learning organizations to advance equity and improve student outcomes at colleges and universities by providing scalable, high-quality supports for effective digital learning solutions. As part of this effort, ATD has been working with 7 ATD network colleges to integrate adaptive courseware in select foundational courses to improve student completion rates. During this series of four webinars, faculty and staff from ATD’s ELE colleges will share their experiences implementing adaptive learning at their colleges. The webinar dates and topics are:

• Wednesday, September 9: Adopting Adaptive Learning: College Perspectives
• Wednesday, September 30: Adaptive Learning: Pedagogies and Practices
• Wednesday, October 21: Adaptive Learning in Math Courses
• Wednesday, November 18: Adaptive Learning in Science Courses

This series is recommended for higher education professionals interested in learning more about the promise and the hype of adaptive courseware.  The webinars are sponsored by Achieving the Dream and the Every Learner Everywhere network and are free and open to everyone.

Adopting Adaptive Learning: College Perspectives

While there is significant promise (and hype) around using adaptive courseware in the college classroom to improve outcomes for students, the on-the-ground implementation of adaptive courseware can be complex and take time to get right.

During this webinar, academic administrators from Indian River State College in Florida and Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio will discuss their firsthand experiences implementing adaptive courseware as part of the Every Learner Everywhere (ELE) project. ELE is a network of organizations with expertise--including Achieving the Dream--in evaluating, implementing, scaling, and measuring the efficacy of education technologies, curriculum and course design strategies, teaching practices, and support services that personalize instruction.SLIDES AND RECORDING

Adaptive Learning: Pedagogies and Practices

During this webinar attendees will learn how faculty from ATD colleges that participated in the Every Learner Everywhere Initiative integrated adaptive learning into their courses, the ways adaptive learning influenced their classroom practice, and the outcomes the use of adaptive courseware has had on their students.

There is often the misconception that adaptive courseware is an automated, turnkey solution that requires little customization to be effective. However, the truth is it is the courseware that needs to be adapted: to the subject matter of the course, a faculty member's approach to teaching, the students, and so on. The reality is that integrating adaptive courseware into the classroom takes time to get right. During this webinar, faculty from ATD colleges that participated in the Every Learner Everywhere (ELE) Initiative will discuss their experiences integrating adaptive courseware into their classrooms. ELE is a network of organizations, which includes Achieving the Dream, with expertise in evaluating, implementing, scaling, and measuring the efficacy of education technologies, curriculum and course design strategies, teaching practices, and support services that personalize instruction. In this session, faculty from ELE colleges will discuss how adaptive learning influenced their classroom practice, the outcomes the use of adaptive courseware has had on their students, and the role adaptive learning has played during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Pleased join us for this free webinar, the second in our fourpart series on Adaptive Learning. The event is free and open to the public.
