Prioritizing Adult Community College Enrollment (PACCE)

The Request for Proposals for the PACCE initiative is now closed. We thank you for your interest in this project and are excited to announce the participating colleges later in the fall.

Achieving the Dream (ATD) and the Lumina Foundation are collaborating on a new project focused on increasing community college enrollments and re-enrollments of adult learners, aged 25+.

The Prioritizing Adult Community College Enrollment (PACCE) initiative is designed to identify and scale promising strategies for increasing the enrollment of adult students — particularly Black, Latino, and Native American students — in high-quality credit and/or non-credit programs. To support this work, ATD and partner organizations will provide technical assistance to the selected institutions in behavioral design and sustainability of enrollment efforts. Additionally, each institution will have the opportunity to receive additional technical assistance services tailored to their unique needs to achieve their project goals.

Through this project, which will run from October 2021 through May 2023, ATD and partners aim to:

  1. Support the successful implementation of adult learner enrollment strategies at each of the participating colleges. To achieve this, the colleges will participate in training to support their efforts to scale and sustain their enrollment strategies and apply behavioral design throughout their work. Additional training and support will be tailored to meet the evolving needs of each participating college.
  2. Scale the promising strategies, lessons, and tools to the broader field. To achieve this, ATD will work with partners to distill promising strategies to enroll or re-enroll adult learners and the tools that support colleges in adapting these strategies to their own context. ATD will share these learnings through our national events, blogs, webinars, and an interactive compilation of tools and resources. This sharing of promising practices will begin early in the project so other colleges can begin to adjust their own adult learner enrollment efforts based on our ongoing learning.
