Colleges across the country recognize that high-quality teaching from full- and part-time faculty and staff educators is needed to advance meaningful change.
Achieving the Dream is pleased to offer a new collaborative program, Building Capacity for Change: Strengthening Professional Learning on Your Campus. Drawing on ATD’s rich and dynamic new Teaching and Learning Toolkit, the program will bring together teaching and learning leadership teams from across the network for synchronous and asynchronous engagement. A structured community of practice will empower teams to apply a comprehensive framework for high-impact professional learning to their campus needs and goals.
With coaching from national professional development leaders, teams will help each other in a program that combines college-focused self-assessment and strategic planning with supportive cross-college community. At the program’s conclusion, teams will come away with a deepened understanding of proven strategies, a cohesive college-focused Professional Learning Action Plan, and connection to a growing national network of support.
Initially offered to three small cohorts of colleges in 2020–21, the seminar process has drawn rave reviews. In feedback surveys, 90% of participants rated “the support in applying the principles of high impact professional learning on my campus” as helpful or very helpful. And 96% of participants agreed or strongly agreed that the process helped them “identify campus strategies for strengthening professional learning design and leadership.”
“Having a Framework to approach our work was excellent,” wrote one participant. “It was compelling to learn from other faculty,” wrote another. “MORE!”
The seminar will include eight meetings, two hours each, beginning August 24 and ending on December 9. In addition, each college team will meet with a Teaching & Learning coach for four hours of focused coaching sessions over the course of the seminar series.
If you are interested in purchasing this seminar experience, please submit an application by July 9. Applications will be available on this site beginning late May, 2021.
